About the Board of Trustees

Serving as the link between the community and the administration, the role of the Board of School Trustees is that of policy making, appraisal and evaluation. The Board does not initiate change, rather it considers proposals brought to it. Judgements are made following careful research, thoughtful consideration and lengthy deliberation.

The Board of School Trustees holds its regularly scheduled meetings at 6:00 p.m., the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at the Gary Area Career Center, 35th & King Drive, Gary, Indiana. Board meetings are not public meetings but meetings held in public.

The Board encourages suggestions and comments on how  educational excellence can be achieved.. One of the best ways to stay informed and voice opinions is through attendance at the Board of School Trustees meetings.

The Board welcomes participation of interested organizations and individuals.  Any person attending a regular meeting may request to speak on an agenda or non-agenda item by completing the appropriate form prior to the opening of the meeting. The time allotted to speak shall not exceed three (3) minutes. If an organization is being represented, the Board may allow six (6) minutes to be divided among the group.
