Benjamin Banneker

Benjamin Banneker Achievement Center provides an accelerated, enriched curriculum for academically advanced K-8 students. Its qualitatively unique approach to teaching takes into account the special learning styles and motivational characteristics of high-ability students. Travel is an important part of the learning experience at Banneker. Students have traveled to Washington DC, New York and Philadelphia; many middle school students have traveled to Europe and Japan; and 5th grade students have the opportunity to go on a cruise to the Bahamas.
Other highlights include the following:

  • Achieved status as a Five-Star, National Blue Ribbon school, awarded because of its consistently high test scores
  • Earned an “A” on Accountability Report Card from Indiana Department of Education
  • 100 percent of primary grade students pass IREAD, which results in more students matriculating to Grade 4
  • Won numerous awards and grants, including a $170,000 grant from University of Notre Dame
