(Gary, IND) – The Gary Community School Corporation proudly recognizes the outstanding accomplishment of the West Side Voices from West Side Leadership Academy (WSLA), who earned a Gold Rating in the Large Vocal Ensemble III category during the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) competition held on Saturday, January 31, 2026, at Lowell Intermediate/Middle School in Lowell, Indiana.

Under the direction of Mr. Keith Nelson, Choral Director at West Side Leadership Academy, students delivered a powerful and disciplined performance of “Simple Gifts,” arranged by John Coates and Joyce Merman. Their performance impressed judges with exceptional musical precision, strong vocal technique, and professionalism.

"This achievement is a proud moment for West Side Leadership Academy, the West Side Theatre Guild, and the entire Gary Community School Corporation, showcasing the talent, dedication, and excellence within GCSC’s fine arts programs," said Nelson.
