Principal's Message

I am honored to serve as the principal of Banneker Elementary at Marquette. With roots in Gary and a background in the Gary Community School Corporation, education has always been my passion.

Following my graduation from Lew Wallace High School, I pursued a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary Education English from Indiana University Northwest. I gained experience through teaching positions at Bailly Junior High, Roosevelt High School, and Thea Bowman Leadership Academy, before earning a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Indiana University Northwest. My leadership roles at Thea Bowman and West Side Leadership Academy have been marked by significant achievements in student performance and school transformation.

As principal, I am dedicated to creating a safe and respectful learning environment. My focus is on supporting teachers in implementing effective instructional strategies to drive student growth. By collaborating with our team and utilizing data-driven practices, we aim to close the achievement gap and foster academic and social development in our students. Building strong partnerships with parents and community stakeholders is also a top priority.

I welcome the opportunity to connect with each of you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out. I am excited to work together towards our shared goals.
